Is it just me, or do you struggle with giving Christmas gifts to the men-folk in your life? While home-baked goodies are nice, you can only do that for so long before you start feeling cheap! So I thought I’d help my gal readers this season by giving them a few, affordable Christmas gift ideas for the country man!
Affordable Christmas Gift Ideas
This isn’t just a random list. These are things I’ve either gifted my own man or are items he uses on a regular basis, things I wish I’d thought of gifting him before he went out and bought it!
Well, isn’t that the way it usually works?
Ratchet Straps
Every country man needs a set of good ratchet straps in his collection of useful tools. They’re handy for hauling a canoe, fastening things to the roof rack of your vehicle, holding down small trailer loads of goods and we even use them for hanging the wild game we harvest!
Because we don’t yet have a truck and rely on our “all around useful and useless” mini van, we have these 15 ft blue straps. Of course, if you’re dealing with a large truck and trailer, you’ll want to get something tougher and bigger!
The Buck Knife
If you have an outdoorsy, hunting-and-fishing type of man, a good knife is a must. Ya’ll know how much we like the single-bladed, black handled buck knife! It goes on all our hunting expeditions and is faithfully used to butcher animals every year. In fact, it’s one of the most well-used gifts I’ve ever given my man!
Flashlights and Headlamps
Because, he’s a man. Whether it’s after-dark mechanical work he has to do on the old vehicle, hauling firewood or something he uses during his outdoor adventures, every good man needs a headlamp and a flashlight or two. Or three or four!
And I’m sorry, but I don’t have a brand to recommend. Like many country folks, we have an odd assortment of these items, some of which I have no idea where they came from!
Fishing Gear
If he’s a fisherman, you’ve got lots of options! You probably know what types of fish he typically goes for. Buy him a few new fishing lures or jigs. Every guy has a favorite lure or fly that’s their “secret weapon.” Find out what his weapon is and buy him a few backups for the day when he loses his favorite/s!
A Carpenter’s Hatchet
Does he need a good hatchet that gets the job done? If so, don’t buy him the type you typically find the hardware store, the type that takes 10 minutes of action to chop through a 5 inch log! Get him the carpenter’s axe instead, a handy tool that was traditionally used for woodworking. It’s sharp. Rustic looking. And it’ll do just about anything he “axes” it to do, with speed and precision!
Outdoor Winter Wear
If you live in a colder climate, gifting your man a pair of long johns, long sleeve undershirts or heavy socks isn’t a bad idea! My man always appreciates having more winter gear on his body when the days are cold and he has to be out in the elements.
Truth be told, I also like his warm, wooly socks! 😉
Wrapping Things Up
We’d all love to gift our man a 4-wheeler, that hunting trip he’s always wanted to take or even a new truck. Shucks, my man would happily settle for an old truck! But when you have other financial goals that are more important, you have to make sacrifices. But that doesn’t mean you have to buy him gifts that are useless. There are good options out there, if only you’re creative enough to find them!
This is my list of affordable Christmas gift ideas for the country man. Hope it helps you with your gift shopping!
