Equipment
a small double boiler
silicone mold
large needle
small string
Ingredients
200
grams
70% dark chocolate
1/2-3/4
cup
soft nuts (cashews, walnuts, etc)
Instructions
Break up chocolate bars and melt in double boiler over medium heat.
Stir occasionally to help chocolate melt faster.
Chop nuts into approximately 1/4 inch pieces.
When chocolate has melted and is runny, take a cutlery spoon and pour chocolate into a mold cavity, until the bottom is just covered.
Using your fingertips, drop a layer or two of nuts on top of the chocolate. Try to leave the center nut-free, so it's easy to thread it onto a string.
Top the nuts with a layer of chocolate.
Immediately add another 1-2 layers of nuts and top the mold with chocolate, leaving a relatively smooth top.
Continue filling molds until you run out of chocolate or nuts.
Leave mold at the back of the kitchen counter until chocolate has set and is firm at room temperature.
Pop chocolates from their silicone mold.
Thread your needle with small string and knot the tail.
Pierce the center of chocolates and string on 1-2 per ornament.
Tie a bow with the string if you like, then knot the loose top, creating a loop for hanging on the tree.
Continue threading chocolates and create a dozen or more edible chocolate ornaments for your tree!
