I’m long overdue for this week’s update. Life has been so busy and so people-filled, I’ve had difficulty finding the time!
My electrician father-in-law was here for a week, working on the power shed. And a carpenter brother offered to come help form the house footings if I would babysit his three kids.
Needless to say, I’ve been cooking, babysitting and working at the property. Plus bringing the garden in and harvesting our last load of apples. Did I mention I also butchered a few chickens in that time?
My house is a mess. The kitchen floors are a perfect disaster, with splotches of tomato sauces, juices and who-knows-what-else coloring the linoleum. Common areas desperately need a good sweeping. And the bathrooms need to be cleaned. Laundry is dresser-high but thank goodness the dishes are done.
It’s one of those season in life when a girl’s gotta prioritize. There simply isn’t enough of me to go around. So I live on in the chaos for the sake of speeding our building project. And actually?
I’m kind of enjoying it. Somehow, I feel like I’m rebelling against my “normal” lifestyle. It feels good to have a change and a new focus!
So away I go, fumbling my way around the building site, congratulating myself on the fact that I’m there. We just came through week 5. And things are moving right along!
